Electric
City was founded in 1998 as a developer, manufacturer and integrator of
energy saving technologies. Electric City believes in a future of focused,
competitive and targeted energy avoidance, demand response/power
curtailment, retrofit services and distributed generation technologies.
Using its proprietary and flagship EnergySaver™/GlobalCommander®
technology, Electric City is focused on combinations of permanent demand
reduction as a complement to existing peak load reduction programs available
at the local distribution level. This plan is called the Virtual
"Negawatt" Power Plan (VNPP®). Central to the VNPP system is the
EnergySaver -- a unique, patented lighting control technology that allows
customers to reduce 20%-30% of the energy consumed by their lighting systems
with little or no visual impact. The GlobalCommander is the wide-area
communication package which is used to control EnergySaver units from a
remote and central location.

Plug
Power’s GenCore is a fuel cell system powered by hydrogen gas designed to
provide up to 5 kW of power for extended back up of telecommunication
facilities or other critical infrastructure. They are available currently in
either 24V DC, 48V DC, -48V DC, or 120V DC configurations. Other output
power configurations will be released in the near future including 48V and
120V floating ground versions. Like valve regulated lead acid (VRLA)
batteries, a GenCore responds instantaneously to a loss of grid power.
However, a GenCore can provide power for extended periods like a generator
set simply by providing the corresponding amount of hydrogen fuel for the
desired backup period. We have a relationship with Airgas, an industrial gas
supplier, which assures our customers will have easy access to hydrogen
delivery and replacement services throughout the U.S.
